Tiger Girls Clinch District Title; Boys Second to Princeton

Worth County’s girls clinched a district title Saturday in Albany as they beat out Platte Valley. The boys were edged out by Princeton again, but they finally edged out Mound City, which had beaten them for much of the year.

For the girls, Worth County had 111 team points, Platte Valley 88, Mound City 80, Rock Port 73, Stanberry 58.25, Princeton 56, South/Nodaway-Holt 55, Albany 43, North/West Nodaway 38, East Atchison 34, NEN 33, North Andrew 25, North Harrison 13, East Harrison 8.25, Union Star 8, King City 6.25, Gilman City 3, and Mercer 0.25.

For the boys, Princeton had 121 points, Worth County 113, Mound City 104, Stanberry 77, South/Nodaway-Holt 58, East Atchison 57.5, NEN 40, Rock Port 34, King City 33, Albany 26, West Nodaway 22, Platte Valley 18, North Andrew 11, East Harrison 9.5, North Harrison 7, Union Star 5, Newtown-Harris 3, and Mercer 1.

For the girls, Anna Gladstone won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 16.09. Aivry Griffin was sixth with a time of 18.14. Anna continued to hold off Kristin Herndon (North/West Nodaway) in the 300 Hurdles, getting a time of 49.73 to win that event as well.

The 4x100 team of Regan Allee, Jessi Badell, Keelin Engel, and Navada Hoff qualified and finished fourth with a time of 55.03. The 4x200 of Aivry Griffin, Navada Hoff, Grace McElvain, and Anna Spainhower was sixth with a time of 2:01.89. The 4x400 team of Regan Allee, Jessi Badell, Megan Cassavaugh, and Braidy Hunt was fifth with a time of 4:28.63. The 4x800 team of Megan Cassavaugh, Jill Hardy, Braidy Hunt, and Kristin New was fifth with a time of 11:16.67.

Two Tigers advanced in the High Jump as Anna Gladstone was third with a jump of 5 feet and Liz Lyle was fourth with a jump of 4’10”. The Tigers qualified all three of their pole vaulters. Keelin Engel got a personal best with a vault of 10 feet. Regan Allee was second, matching a personal best with a vault of 9’6”. Jessi Badell was third with a vault of 8’6”. Anna Gladstone won the Long Jump with a jump of 16’11¼”. Liz Lyle was sixth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 31’2”.

Merrideth Spiers was second in the Shot Put with a throw of 36’5½”. She won the Discus with a throw of 128 feet. Kennedy Galanakis was seventh with a throw of 96’2”.

On the boys side, both their runners in the 100 qualified as Andrew Alarcon won the 100 with a time of 11.49. Jaxon Anderson was third with a time of 11.88.

In the 100 Hurdles, Bryant McCord barely qualified, getting a time of 18.59 and fourth place. Aydan Gladstone was fifth with a time of 18.87. Bryant McCord won the 300 Hurdles, continuing his rapid improvement in that event with a time of 42.90. Jace Cousatte was eighth with a time of 47.86.

The 4x100 team of Jaxon Anderson, Caleb Parman, Andrew Alarcon, and Bryant McCord was second with a time of 45.40. The 4x200 team of Bryant McCord, Caleb Parman, Jaxon Anderson, and Andrew Alarcon was second with a time of 1:34.56. The 4x400 team of Andrew Alarcon, Nate Adwell, Alex Rinehart, and Aydan Gladstone was fourth with a time of 3:44.03.

Gage McAdams (East Atchison) edged out Nate Adwell on tiebreaks in the Pole Vault, with both getting 13 feet. Aydan Gladstone was sixth with a height of 11 feet. Caleb Parman won the Long Jump with a jump of 20 feet. Both their triple jumpers qualified as Caleb Parman won with a jump of 39’5¾” and Jaxon Anderson was third with a jump of 39’2½”.

Jacob New was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 39’5½”. Both Javelin throwers qualified as Jacob New won with a throw of 150 feet. Alex Rinehart got a personal best with a fourth place throw of 145’2”.
