Ruby Allee Sworn In as Sheridan City Council Member

Ruby Allee was sworn in to replace Chuck Zook on the Sheridan City Council at Monday's regular meeting. She is running for a full term on the April ballot.

Crackdowns for delinquent water bills will be no later than April 1st. Also, city taxes which are delinquent three years or more will be sold at auction by the Worth County Treasurer in August on the Courthouse steps.

Water Superintendent David Parman said that he thought that there was a small water leak somewhere because of lower than normal water pressure. Mayor Leland Wake said that the city would keep an eye on it to see where it was coming from.

Street Commissioner Doug Allee received many compliments for work doing snow removal. Troy Hawk was also recognized for volunteer labor, removing snow in front of the main storefront and the Post Office during the recent snowstorm.

Mayor Wake reported that he had gotten the old tanks out of the old DOT building. He also said that he wanted to set a time to burn all of the old brush in the city brush pile.

Councilwoman Mary Jo Riley said that she had begun working on a grant for the Community Building; she said that she had found one with a 35% match requirement and one that was a 100% match but that had a lot of stipulations. She reported that she had gotten calls about street lights going out or blinking on and off; she said that persons should get the number off the light poles and call KCP&L.
