Thomas William Steinhauser, 83, of Parnell, Missouri died Wednesday, February 2, 2011on his farm.
Tom was born April 18, 1927 in Stanberry, Missouri, the son of Anthony John and Honora (Handley) Steinhauser. He was a 1945 graduate of Stanberry High School.
He and Mary Elizabeth Davitt were married on July 25, 1956 in Churchville, Iowa.
A livestock and grain farmer, Tom was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell and the Elk’s Lodge in Maryville. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Sheridan and he served on the Sheridan and Worth County R-III School Boards and the Nodaway County Rural Water District Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Daniel Gerard Steinhauser and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife: Mary, of their home in rural Parnell; their children: Mary Beth (Mark) Carr, Cameron, Missouri; Anthony John (Beth) Steinhauser, Grant City, Missouri; Ann Maureen (Dave) Gilland, Grant City; Laurice Marie (Mark) Harding, Denver, Missouri; Sue Ellen (David) Crawford, Bellevue, Nebraska and Nancy Renea (Tony) Burtch, Chillicothe, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, John, Laura, Emily, and Andrew Carr, Brett (Amanda), Megan, Cassie, and Brooke Gilland,Traci, Kimberly, Jordan, and Todd Harding, Nathan and Philip Crawford, Ben, Tucker, and Sadie Burtch; 1 great-granddaughter, Evalyn Gilland, and three sisters: Mary Margaret Martin, Tucson, Arizona; Agnes (Leo) Miller, Roundtop, Texas and Lucille (Jim) Vonnahme, Red Oak, Iowa.
A 6 pm Prayer Service was held at St Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell, Missouri on Friday, February 4, 2011, followed by family visitation from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the Church basement.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 am Saturday, February 5, 2011, at St Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell, Missouri with burial in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Stanberry, Missouri.
