On March 15th, Claycomb pitched one inning in Christian's 10-9 extra inning win over Ecclesia. He gave up two hits, three runs (one earned), two walks, and one strikeout and was rocked by a home run. But his teammates came back to score one in the seventh and one in the eighth for an extra inning walkoff win.
On March 28th, Grant came on in relief against College of the Ozarks, which was a frequent nemesis of Christian, beating them several times this year. Christian jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but then proceeded to get rocked, giving up seven in the third and three in the fourth. Claycomb came on in relief in the fourth, giving up a couple of hits, but getting the Falcons out of the inning. He also worked the fifth. He only needed nine pitches, eight of which were strikes. But the damage was done as College of the Ozarks pulled away to a 12-3 win.
On March 31st, Claycomb pitched two thirds of an inning in Christian's 10-4 loss to Baptist Bible College. The game was tied at 4-4 before Baptist Bible College erupted for six runs in the last inning. Christian brought in Claycomb to stop the bleeding, and he gave up two hits and one run before finally getting out of the inning. That extended Christian's losing streak to five after they had dropped four games to Ozark and brought their record to 14-14. But they would suddenly catch fire and win 16 out of their last 22 games of the year.
On April 1st, in the final game of the four game series with Baptist Bible College, Christian dropped the game 8-1 as Baptist salvaged a split in the series. Baptist scored five in the second and three in the seventh to secure the win. Claycomb came on in relief in the seventh, giving up two hits, but then getting the Falcons out of the inning, striking out one in two thirds of an inning of relief.
On April 8th, against Dallas Christian, the Falcons were knocked out of the game early and fell 11-0. Claycomb pitched part of the third as well as the fourth, pitching one and a third innings, two hits, one run, and one home run.
He pitched again on the 8th against Dallas Christian and had a forgettable outing, giving up three runs without getting an out, but his next outing was much better, as he came on in relief against Randall on April 26th. The team had gone on a run and had gotten over .500 again; they were up 11-0 in the seventh, only to give up three runs. Claycomb came on in relief and shut the door, getting the last two outs to preserve the win. That win gave them ten out of their last 11 and put them at 28-18.
Claycomb came on the next day on the 27th. He finished up the Falcons' 12-2 win over Randall, pitching the final inning. He walked two batters, but got out of the inning with no damage done to preserve the win.
The Falcons raised their record to 30-18 for the year before dropping two games in the Regional Tournament, 6-4 to Champion Christian College and 1-0 to Ozark to end their season at 30-20. Ozark would go on to make the Final Four.
