North Andrew Stays #1; Stanberry Picks Up Steam

#1 North Andrew 66, #4 Worth County 26
Worth County still has a long ways to go before challenging North Andrew. They have a week to get things figured out, because they have to face Stanberry next week. The Tigers will clinch at least a tie of the 275 title in their final year if they win. Next year, they will rejoin the Grand River Conference in Eight Man and play the likes of King City and Braymer. North Andrew's win it for Christian Patterson effort has whipped their players into a frenzy, and it will take a perfect game from someone in order to slow them down. That someone could be Worth County, but they will have to fix some mistakes and navigate the likes of Stanberry and Southwest Livingston in order to get a rematch.

#2 Stanberry 58, #8 Albany 12
Stanberry played its most complete game of the year in knocking out Albany in the third quarter. Quarterback Cory Luke ran for scores of 59 and 77 yards and picked up 168, while Clayton Stoll picked up 117 more in 11 carries. After getting pushed in many of their games this year, Stanberry finally got a breather. Albany had been on the rise and was expected to put up a stiffer challenge, but will have to regroup. The bottom half of the ranking table will be shaken up after this week's losses.

#3 Southwest Livingston 69, Stewartsville 20
Stewartsville, which had shown some life last week, went down hard to Lake Crowe and Southwest Livingston in this halftime game.

#5 Hardin-Central 80, Chilhowee 12
One week after giving up 96 to North Andrew, Chilhowee gave up 80 more to Hardin-Central.

#6 DeKalb 58, East Atchison 8
A promising start for the Wolves has been derailed. They still have to play Worth County and Rock Port.

#7 St. Joseph Christian 64, Independence Home School (KS) 18
Johnathan Wing completed 17 passes in 33 attempts for 149 yards and Matthew Corkins ran for 84 more. Christian scored four straight touchdowns at the start of the second quarter to put this one away after leading 14-6 after one. This game was called in the third quarter. The Lions were the lone team of the bottom four ranked teams to win Friday night.

Northwest Nodaway 54, #9 Mound City 8
This one ended at halftime. Without Ben Shifflett, the heart and soul of their team, the Panthers, who had shown a lot of improvement, went down hard. The resurgent Muskets have won their last two, including a long trip to Greenfield which they won 78-34. Mound City didn't have an answer for Koby Reynolds, who completed 28 passes in 39 attempts for 323 yards. After only catching two against Worth County, Jakob Cordell caught fire, catching 10 passes for 150 against Greenfield and 9 passes for 108 yards against Mound City.

Nodaway/South Holt 54, #10 Rock Port 40
Greenfield's 92-36 win over Northwest Hughesville was the most entertaining to watch this week, but the best game of the week goes to this one. The Spartans jumped out on Rock Port 12-0, only to see the Blue Jays come back with a safety and two tallies to move ahead 14-12. But then Josh Peterson's Spartans scored three times to go ahead for good, although Rock Port was never far behind. Ross Hastert's club came to within 40-34 after three, but Brody Day scored twice for the Spartans to clinch the win. Day carried the team on his back, getting 21 carries for 251 yards in the victory and caught 83 passing yards. Rock Port, which had a 200+ yard passing game last week, had Jace Hughes throw for 237 yards on just 10 completions. Tyler Jones caught six passes for 196 yards.
