Missouri Right to Life Endorses Candidates for August 4th Election

 On Monday, June 15th, the Missouri Right to Life State and Federal Political Action Committees issued their endorsements for candidates on the August 4th ballot. The Missouri Right to Life endorses candidates who they believe are pro-life and who will work to ban, discourage, or restrict abortions while in office.

The Missouri Right to Life endorsed Amendment 4, which they say will protect the Missouri Constitution from outside influence. Amendment 4 would make it more difficult for voters to amend the Missouri Constitution; if passed, all future ballot measures must pass every Congressional district as well as win a majority of voters.

For the 6th District, the Missouri Right to Life endorsed Chris Stigall, Nathan Hall Willett, Cody Oshel, and Nathaniel Schultz. The Missouri Right to Life endorses multiple candidates if they believe more than one is 100% pro-life.

For Missouri Auditor, the Missouri Right to Life endorsed incumbent Scott Fitzpatrick.

For State Senate District 12, the Missouri Right to Life endorsed incumbent Rusty Black.

For State House District 1, the Missouri Right to Life endorsed incumbent Jeff Farnan. For State House District 2, which includes Worth County, the Missouri Right to Life endorsed Phil Fox and Brandon Harvey.

All the candidates the Missouri Right to Life endorsed this cycle are Republicans.

Opinion -- Judge Orders Revision of Right to Life Ballot Measure

By the Missouri Right to Life

Late Friday afternoon, September 19th, as the world was still grieving Charlie Kirk and preparing for his memorial, Judge Dan Green issued a ruling on HJR 73 (the 2026 Amendment 3) to allow it to go on the ballot in 2026 but in the same ruling requiring a rewrite of the already vetted truthful ballot language.  This case was brought by the liberal left ACLU and supported by Planned Parenthood.

"Missouri Right to Life is very disappointed in the judge's decision requiring the ballot language rewrite and supports the language originally passed by the duly elected representatives of the people in the 2025 legislative session. This is the language that Missouri voters should see on the ballot", said Susan Klein, Executive Director of Missouri Right to Life.

Klein continued, "Here we go again, the court is seeking to force the legislature, through the Secretary of State to do the bidding of the ACLU and Planned Parenthood and trying to place lies on the 2026 ballot."

"History and the courts repeat themselves.  It has been proven that the original ballot language on the 2024 pro-abortion initiative written by Secretary of State Ashcroft was truthful and has now been shown by court decisions to do exactly what was said would happen if it passed," Klein continued, "Because the courts ultimately rewrote this truthful ballot language and placed deceitful language on the ballot that mislead Missouri voters, women are at high risk of harm and abortion is allowed through all 9 months of pregnancy."

Secretary of State Hoskins, with the help of the legislators instrumental in the passage of HJR 73, has been given seven days to rewrite the ballot language and the ballot summary. We hope the courts will look at the facts that will be presented to them again and allow the truth of the 2026 Amendment 3 to move forward.

"Missourians and Americans are tired of untruths and liberal policies. Why are the courts, the ACLU and Planned Parenthood afraid of putting the truth before the general public?"

Pray for Missouri, as our Secretary of State and our Legislators are working to ensure that Missourians are presented with the truth on the ballot in 2026.

Opinion -- Abortion Ruling Puts Women in Grave Danger

By the Missouri Right to Life

Late Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025 as our nation and families were preparing to celebrate Independence Day, left wing activist Jackson County Judge Jerri Zhang, without any notice or input from Missouri's top legal official, released a dangerous ruling for the 3rd time to remove almost all health and safety standards for abortions. Women's lives are at great risk from an unregulated abortion industry. There will be no guidelines or boundaries for abortionists to perform dangerous abortions on women.

The health and safety standards put in place in Missouri statutes were diligently vetted and reviewed by medical professionals and legislators after inspections by the Missouri Department of Health found multiple infractions over the years that included: dried bloody equipment, rusty equipment, expired drugs and unqualified workers. Judge Zhang's ruling is egregious and dangerous to women's health.

Attorney General Andrew Bailey issued a statement that he would immediately appeal the decision by Judge Zhang. He stated that, "We respectfully but firmly disagree with the Court's decision to once again block the enforcement of Missouri's duly enacted health and safety regulations," the statement read. "These requirements were designed to ensure that women receive care in sanitary conditions from qualified professionals, with emergency safeguards in place."

The Missouri legislature has placed a referendum on the November 2026 ballot to let Missouri voters speak out and ensure protections for women, children and babies. The new Amendment 3 will ensure health and safety standards can be enforced while allowing for some exceptions for abortion.

Missouri Right to Life thanks Attorney General Bailey and our pro-life legislators for fighting for safety standards for women, children and babies in Missouri.

Opinion -- Missouri Supreme Court Decision Victory for Life

By the Missouri Right to Life

The following statement is from Steve Rupp, President of Missouri Right to Life:

Missouri Right to Life welcomes the Missouri Supreme Court Decision on Tuesday, ordering a Jackson County judge to vacate the preliminary injunctions that she had entered earlier this year in which she declared the Missouri abortion ban and all of Missouri's health and safety regulations unconstitutional under Amendment 3.

This decision will save lives of preborn babies and the health and safety of Missouri Women.

Among the regulations that the judge had declared unconstitutional included requirements that:

—Only doctors perform abortions.

—Surgical instruments be sterilized before use.

—Doctors examine the mother to determine the gestational age of the unborn child and to identify any medical risk before performing an abortion.

—Ultrasounds only be performed by licensed medical professionals.

—Abortion clinics have emergency trays and emergency supplies.

Doctors obtain informed consent prior to performing an abortion.

The Missouri Supreme Court's ruling came as a result of an appeal filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, utilizing the authority granted by the Missouri Right to Life backed Senate Bill 22, in which the Attorney General challenged the Jackson County preliminary injunctions.

The Missouri Supreme Court sent the case back to the Jackson County court with instructions to reevaluate Planned Parenthood's request for preliminary injunction based on several criteria, including if Planned Parenthood would suffer irreparable harm without the injunction and also to balance that harm with any injury that an injunction would inflict on other interested parties.

Planned Parenthood had previously stated in court filings that they could not comply with the health and safety standards listed above and after the ruling stated they were cancelling abortion appointments and would cease abortions, the killing of innocent unborn children, until further order of the court.

This is a great victory for life!

Opinion -- Ballot Measure Would Restore Respect for Women, Babies

By the Missouri Right to Life

On Thursday, April 17th, the Missouri House of Representatives approved House Committee Substitute to House Joint Resolution 73 (HCS HJR 73) which will place the issue on the ballot to restore respect for women and babies in our Missouri Constitution.

Republicans have been under attack by pro-abortion zealots that want to keep the killing of babies all 9 months of pregnancy in our State Constitution at the expense of Missouri women's safety.

After Judge Zhang ruled on February 14, 2025 to strip critical protections from Missouri women, it is clear that the state has a compelling interest to put this issue back to a vote of the people of Missouri.

Here are a just a few of the protections Judge Zhang ruled to be stripped out of law:  That only doctors can perform abortions (GONE), that facilities doing abortions have sterilization standards for surgical instruments and equipment (GONE), have emergency equipment on sight (GONE), have emergency drugs, oxygen and fluids in a surgical room (GONE), that ultrasounds be performed by a doctor or a medical technician (GONE), that an abortion provider perform an exam to identify possible complications that could occur based on a woman's medical conditions (GONE).

Why are these necessary medical precautions needed in law?  Because abortion clinics in Missouri have a recorded history of inspections that showed rusty equipment, dried blood on equipment, expired drugs and unqualified personnel.  Abortion clinics in Missouri have also made the statement that they will take minors across state lines to do abortions on them without parental consent.

Missouri Right to Life supports HCS HJR 73.  It truly will:

* Restore health and safety regulations to protect women, regulations that Amendment 3 removed from law;

* Guarantee treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies;

* Ensure that women receive medically accurate information;

* Allow abortions in cases of medical emergencies, fetal anomalies, and rape and incest. In cases of rape and incest an abortion may be performed up to 12 weeks gestational age of the unborn child;

* Ensure parental consent for minors' abortions;

* Ensure taxpayers don't have to fund abortions;

* Ensure no fetal organ harvesting; and,

* Protect minors from gender transitions.

The majority of Missourians did not vote for abortion all 9 months of pregnancy.  They believe and support these issues and this new amendment will give the people of Missouri another opportunity to speak.

The resolution will now be sent to the Missouri Senate. If the Senate approves the resolution the issue will then be placed on the November 2026 ballot or at a special election designated by the governor.

Missouri Right to Life thanks all Missouri State Representatives that voted in support of HCS HJR 73 and we look forward to working with Missouri State Senators to get this life-saving and life-affirming resolution to the Missouri Secretary of State!
