Worth County FCCLA Trick or Treat

The Worth County FCCLA will be trick or treating for the local Mission
Possible food pantry on Halloween night.  Last year members were able
to collect over 500 pounds of food to donate.  We would like to thank
all the communities for their generosity with this project.

Worth County FCCLA Annual Kick-Off the Year Membership Drive

Approximately 35 high school students met September 11, @ 7:30 at the
Grant City Pool Park to enjoy hot dogs, s'mores, and volleyball. More
than half of the freshman class attended and enjoyed getting to know
the upperclassmen FCCLA members.  A very competitive game of
volleyball was held after eating.  Team captains, freshman Ben Badell
and senior Sidney Davenport, used a variety of strategies to earn
points and everyone had a great time.  Fifty-five high school students
have joined FCCLA this year and are looking forward to a variety of
projects.

Final Week for FCCLA Mum Sales

This will be the last week that FCCLA is selling mums.  If you would like to order, please contact Jonell Cook at Worth County School. They are $10 each and will be delivered.  The money will be used to
fund our competitive events this year.

Worth County FCCLA Starts Coat Drive

FCCLA students from WCHS have started their annual coat drive.  The collection will take place until Thanksgiving when all coats will be donated to Mission Possible.  Clean and gently used coats can be
dropped off at the school at any time.  We would appreciate your help making someone's winter a little warmer.

Worth County FCCLA Attends Region I Planning Meeting

Officers Brianna Fletchall, Rebecca Moore, Kristen Andrews, and Dakota Owsley from Worth County RIII FCCLA had the opportunity to attend the Region 1 planning meeting on July 31st through August 1st.  The students participated in several team building activities, such as making a boat from cardboard, having a greased watermelon relay, and other water games while they camped at Mozingo.  Members from 15 area schools were present for the meeting.  The highlight of the meeting was the Moera obstacle course, where the officers placed their trust in their teammates and completed the challenge course.  All officers had a great time and came back with new activities to use for future chapter meetings.

Worth County FCCLA Collects 37 Units of Blood

On October 8th, 2012, the Worth County FCCLA hosted a blood drive. The FCCLA wanted to help their community and partnering with the Community Blood Center in St. Joseph would be a great opportunity to
do this.  The Blood Center staff registered 35 volunteers and collected 37 units of blood . There were 6 first time donors from the high school.  We would like to thank all those who generously gave of their time to attend the blood drive.

53 Attend FCCLA Meeting

On October 12th, 2011, fifty three members of the Worth County FCCLA attended the regional meeting in Maryville, Missouri. The event was held by Northwest Missouri State University, and the Region 1 Officers in the Ron Houston Performing Arts Center. The theme of the meeting was “Share Our Strength – Max Out With FCCLA.” The 53 attending members were able to raise $106 to donate to Region 1 Disaster Support, to help flood victims in our area and to Share Our Strength to help end hunger in the U.S. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Tim Crowley, a professor at Northwest who talked about your emotions and how they affect other people.
Two members of the Worth County chapter of FCCLA, Taylor Butcher and Alaina Freeman, were a part of the Region 1 officers who helped plan the meeting. Taylor Butcher made a slideshow for the event that included pictures of what several Region 1 chapters had been doing in the past year. Alaina Freeman selected and read the devotional for the meeting. The meeting benefitted all FCCLA members, and was a great experience for Taylor and Alaina. Worth County students are very proud of their Region 1 officers!

Worth County FCCLA Holds Officer Installation Meeting

The Worth County FCCLA chapter held its annual officer installation meeting on May 4, 2011. Outgoing officers from the 2010-2011 school year included Lauren Null, Alex Harmening, Jordan Harding, Carli Jackson, Jessica Garrett, Alaina Freeman, Taylor Butcher, and Todd Harding. Incoming officers from the 2011-2012 school year include Jessica Garrett, Jordan Harding, Carli Jackson, Alaina Freeman, Taylor Butcher, Logan Ridge, Rebecca Moore, Kiley Reynolds, Sidney Davenport, Brianna Fletchall, and Kristen Andrews. Mrs. Patti Spainhower will be stepping down as the chapter’s advisor. She has dedicated many years to making the Worth County FCCLA chapter successful, and she will be greatly missed. The 2011-2012 advisor for the Worth County FCCLA chapter will be Jonell Cook. The absence of many people will be greatly felt in the coming year, but the FCCLA chapter looks forward to another successful year.

36 Worth County students compete in FCCLA Region One

On February 7th 2011, thirty-six FCCLA members went to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville to compete at Region One STAR Events. At STAR Events, there was an open ceremony. Competition started where the members displayed their presentations and gave a speech to the judges. The day ended with the closing awards ceremony. At the awards ceremony, the following awards were presented: Top Gold and going to the State FCCLA Leadership Conference: Advocacy- Sam Martell, Zach Ragan, Dakota Owsley; Chapter Showcase Display- Brian Hall, Alex Harmening, Adam Summers; Illustrated Talk Junior- Kristen Chitty; Senior Parli Pro- Jordan Harding, Todd Harding, Paige McPike, Lauren Null, Bryson Scott, Grant Parman, Bryce Ross, Starla Farnsworth; Promote and Publicize- Logan Ridge, Will Buffington, Eli Mullock; Recycle and Redesign- Jordan Hunt; Website Project- Jessica Garrett, Carli Jackson, and Brooke Gilland. Gold: Chapter Showcase Manual- Sierra Groven, Akaysha Ragan, and Ashley Laughlin. Silver: Focus on Children- Taylor Butcher, Alaina Freeman; National Programs in Action- Sidney Davenport, Rebecca Moore; Junior Parli Pro- Andrew Mullock, Stormy Sherer, Elizabeth Novak, Katie Mullock, Maddison Davis, and Brianna Fletchall. Bronze: Life Event Planning- Teisha Johnson. Congratulations to all who participated!

Worth County FCCLA Officer Screening

On February 9th 2011, FCCLA Adviser, Patti Spainhower, took Logan Ridge, Brianna Fletchall, Alaina Freeman, and Taylor Butcher to King City to attend the Regional Officer Screening. At the screening, the members ate a light breakfast and had opening ceremonies. Then the regional officer candidates gave a speech and answered questions about FCCLA, while the voting delegates voted for their preference. Once the twelve offices were filled, closing ceremonies concluded the meeting. Logan Ridge and Brianna Fletchall were voting delegates. Alaina Freeman and Taylor Butcher were candidates running for regional office. Alaina Freeman was selected as Vice-President of Devotions and Taylor Butcher was selected as Vice-President of Historian for 2011-2012. On March 16th 2011, Alaina and Taylor will attend the Region One Officer Installation in Princeton. Congratulations to both girls!
