Daniel, Wyatt Craven Receive Eagle Scout Honors
Daniel and Wyatt Craven of Grant City recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. They are members of Troop 131 of Parnell, sponsored by American Legion 528 of Parnell and Sheridan Community Betterment Club of Sheridan, Jim Price, Scout Master.
Eagle is the highest and most coveted award in all Scouting, and it is the last major step in the advancement program for a Boy Scout. It is at this point Scouting has achieved its purpose in the building of character, in the training for leadership, and in the practice of service. The final obligation of an Eagle Scout is service-not only helping those who follow him up the Scouting trail, but service and leadership in his community as well.
Before a young man becomes an Eagle Scout, he must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project for a religious institution, school or community.
Daniel's Eagle project was new bleachers for the Sheridan Rodeo Grounds and Wyatt's Eagle project was two picnic tables for the Worth County school concession stand. Daniel and Wyatt’s projects included demonstration of leadership, planning the work, organizing the personnel needed, and then directing the project to its completion.
Daniel and Wyatt are the sons of Gordon and Glenda Craven. Daniel is attending school at Grand River Technical at Chillicothe and Wyatt is a sophomore in Worth County School R-3 of Grant City.
There was recently a celebration for Daniel and Wyatt for Eagle Scout rank with family and friends.
