Worth County’s junior high girls were fourth and the boys fifth at the GRC West Meet at King City Tuesday, April 30th.
For the girls, Stanberry ran away with the meet with 152 points. Princeton had 101, Albany 74, Worth County 71, King City 34, North Harrison 21, St. Joseph Christian 8, and North Andrew 7.
For the boys, Stanberry had 84, Princeton 77, King City 72, St. Joseph Christian 71, North Andrew 63, Worth County 50, North Harrison 31, Albany 10, and Pattonsburg 6.
For the girls, Brooklyn Smith was sixth in the 100 with a time of 15.03. Smith was third in the 400 with a time of 1:10.40. Hadley Rush was fifth in the 800 with a personal best time of 3:04.50. Audrey Runde was second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.96. Brianna Riley was fifth with a time of 20.81.
The 4x100 team of Audrey Runde, Brianna Riley, Gracie Thurman, and Megan Tracy was third with a personal best time of 58.19. The 4x200 team of Kennedy Murphy, Brianna Riley, Gracie Thurman, and Megan Tracy was fourth with a time of 2:06.34. After taking 15 seconds off their time at the last meet, the 4x400 team of Gracie Thurman, Hartley Fitzgerald, Kennedy Murphy, and Hadley Rush took six more seconds off their time and finished third with a time of 5:01.73.
The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Megan Tracy was second with a height of 2 meters. Hartley Fitzgerald was fourth with a height of 1.70.
The Tigers placed two in the Triple Jump. Audrey Runde and Megan Tracy have been pushing each other all year in the event, with Tracy beating out Audrey sometimes and Runde winning some others. This time, Audrey Runde was fourth with a distance of 8.66 meters and Megan Tracy right behind at fifth with a distance of 8.65. Both marks were their personal best.
The Tigers may have found a new thrower as Laura Hansen has broken into the rankings in the Shot Put. She was fourth with a personal best throw of 8.42 meters.
The Tiger throwers saved their best for last in the Discus. Audrey Runde, who improved by five meters this year, came close to a personal best and won with a throw of 22.81 meters. Bella Blankenship got a personal best and was fourth with a throw of 21.78.
Jordan Dannar was fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.96. The Tigers placed two in the 100 Hurdles. Mason Hiatt was fourth with a personal best time of 18.69. Brock Healy was fifth with a time of 18.86.
Both relay teams got personal marks. The 4x100 team of Maverick Cox, Jordan Dannar, Mason Hiatt, and Bentley Frisch was fifth with a time of 54.78. The 4x200 team of Maverick Cox, Mason Hiatt, Bentley Frisch, and Jordan Dannar was fifth with a time of 1:54.55.
The Tigers placed two in the Pole Vault. Bentley Frisch won with a height of 2.75 meters. Brock Healy was fifth with a height of 2.45.
Maverick Cox was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.99 meters.
Brock Healy saved his best for last in the Triple Jump. He won with a jump of 10.47 meters. Bentley Frisch was fifth with a jump of 9.47.
Throwing the Shot Put for only the third time, Maverick Cox broke the 10 meter barrier and finished third with a throw of 10.03 meters. Brock Healy was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 29.70 meters.
North Harrison
Hali Smith won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.20.
The Shamrocks got two personal bests in the High Jump. Raegan Hogan got a personal best with a height of 1.30 meters and Addison Milligan got a personal best height of 1.15.
Smith was fifth in the Pole Vault with a height of 1.70 meters. She got a personal best in the Long Jump and finished second with a jump of 4.36 meters. Ava Rinehart got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 8.23 meters.
Ava Rinehart was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.20 meters. Kathryn Parkhurst got a personal best with a throw of 6.72. Rinehart saved her best for last in the Discus with a personal best throw of 19.33 meters.
For the boys, Dalton Guy got a personal best in the 100 and finished fourth with a time of 13.95. Ryker Fortner was fourth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:29.16. Dalton Guy took almost a whole second off his time in the 100 Hurdles and won it with a time of 17.85. He extended his school record in the event as well.
Jensen Davis saved his best for last in the Long Jump, getting third with a jump of 5.15 meters. Dalton Guy was fourth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.83 meters.
Kellan Craig was sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.52 meters.
Meric Hansen was fifth in the Discus with a personal best throw of 26.41 meters. He capped off a year of rapid improvement in the event; his best throw last year was 16.87. Henry Frank also got a personal best with a throw of 25.12.
