Five different players got to score for Northeast Nodaway's junior high boys as they pulled away, winning every quarter in a 38-22 win Tuesday, November 2nd. Drew Dack got his usual output with 22 points, but four other players chipped in for the Bluejays.
The Bluejays started off fast as Chase Clabaugh hit Drew Dack on the left side, then tipped an offensive board to him for a finish to make it 4-0. Hudson Groomer countered from the left side, but Gaige Bodle, who was all over the floor for the Bluejays in the first quarter, knocked one down and Drew Dack hit from the left side off a pass from Chase Allen to make it 8-2.
Bodle picked up his third foul at that point; with only six players, that foul was costly as Northeast couldn't pressure the ball like they wanted to. Stanberry was able to hang around for the remainder of the first half, but Northeast was able to keep them from coming close.
The teams traded bucked until the midway part of the second quarter, when Drew Dack scored twice to put Northeast up 18-8. But turnovers hurt the Bluejays; they had 20 for the night, including a Jax Heyde steal that cut Stanberry's deficit to 20-12. Vincent Smithson added another to cut Stanberry's deficit to 20-14 to start the third, but Gaige Bodle, who came back to start the third quarter, played much more under control in the second half and didn't pick up another foul. With Stanberry possessing the ball with a chance to cut it to four, Bodle jumped a pass to make it 22-14, and then Reece Gray added another steal to make it ten. Reece got another steal and fed Drew Dack to make it 26-14.
Stanberry continued to hang around for the remainder of the third quarter, but Drew Dack hit from the high post and capitalized off a Bodle steal to make it 34-20. Parker Ginther's putback cut it to 34-22, but Chase Clabaugh got loose after Reece Gray got a steal, Drew Dack pushed it up the floor and got it to Gage Bodle, who got it to Clabaugh on the wing. Bodle added a putback to make it 16.
