Adcock Qualifies for Nationals

Nick Adcock MU Senior in Track and Field competed on April 10 in the Pepsi Invitational in Eugene, Oregon where he entered three events. In the 110 Hurdles he set a personal best with a time of 14.13 and placed 2nd; in the high jump he went 6'4" and placed 6th; his 4X400 team ran it in 3:12.66 where they placed 5th.
Adcock traveled from Oregon to California where he and teammate Lars Rise (Norway) competed in the Mt. SAC Combined Events at Azusa, California with 50 other decathletes. On day one Adcock ran the 100 meter dash in 10.99, Long jump he jumped 22' 7"; the shot put 46' 2&1/2", a height of 6' 4" in the high jump and ran the 400 meter run in 48.55. He was in 2nd place after day one with 4,004 points; on day two he started the day with a win of the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.19, just shy of his personal best he had set the weekend before. Next he threw the discus 122' 4" and got a height of 15' 5" in the pole vault and threw the javelin 161' 5". The last event was the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:34.80. At the end of the day he had a personal best score of 7672 and placed 2nd overall, being beat out by his teammate Lars Rise by 21 points.
Adcock's score of 7672 automatically qualified him for the NCAA Nationals in Eugene, Oregon in June.
Rise and Adcock are ranked second and third nationally in the decathlon just behind Ashton Eaton of Oregon.
Adcock's next big meet will be The Big 12 Championship May 14-15 in Columbia, MO.
Adcock is the son of Gary & Sue Adcock, Kansas City, MO and the Grandson of Galen & Betty Ruckman, Grant City, MO.
