Snakebite Continues Curbside Service

Snakebite is remaining open with limited hours due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. They offer curbside takeout from 11 am to 2 pm Monday through Saturday. All menu items will be available six days a week.  They also offer take and bake pizzas. There will be specials on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Rapid Elite to Remain Open

Rapid Elite announced Monday that they would remain open during Maryville’s Shelter in Place order. Last week, two local families shipped food, medical supplies, and other items for relatives who had tested positive for the Coronavirus. They are the only option in town for shipping. They will have a limited staff and will take precautions against their employees contracting the virus.

Kawasaki Shuts Down Operations

On Monday, Kawasaki announced that it would shut down operations effective April 1st through 14th due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Shelter in Place order from the City of Maryville. The plant will reopen for critical jobs from April 15th through 17th and then resume normal operations on April 19th.

No, Wal-Mart is Not Offering $50 for Likes

No, Wal-Mart is not offering free coupons worth $50 in return for liking or sharing certain posts. These Facebook posts frequently have pictures of what look like authentic checks from Wal-Mart.

However, there is no coupon to receive, according to Snopes. Users frequently have to fill out surveys which require you to divulge personal information such as email addressed, phone numbers, dates of birth, and credit card numbers. Other users are forced to purchase a number of costly goods, services, or subscriptions worth much more than $50.

Blockton Meets Fundraising Goal for Playground

The City of Blockton has met their fundraising goal for the new playground in the park. The Taylor County Endowment Foundation donated $10,000 to the project, which closed the gap on the goal. The playground will be installed this summer.

AJ and Rebecca Lawrence of Maryville are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Rylee Jean Lawrence on  Friday, January 17, 2020 at Mosaic Hospital of St. Joseph, Mo.  Rylee weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and measured 21 inches long and resides with her big brother Landon and her parents in Maryville, Missouri.  Maternal grandparents are Glenda and Gordon Craven of Grant City, Missouri, Richard Stringer of Hopkins, Missouri.  Great Grandparents Glenn and Sharon Bix of Hopkins, Missouri, Neola Stringer of Maryville, Missouri. Paternal Great Grandparents Corina Lawrence and Dennis Tague of  Farragut Iowa.

Harrison County Health Department Issues Shelter in Place Order

On Monday, the Harrison County Health Department issued a Shelter in Place order. The first Coronavirus case was diagnosed in Harrison County on Sunday.

All persons shall shelter in place by remaining in their regular places, avoiding contact with people with whom they do not reside, and avoid public places except to obtain food, supplies, and medical treatment, attend work, or participate in outdoor recreational activities. All social gatherings of 10 or more people are banned. Social distancing by staying at least 6 feet away from other people is required.

All community seating areas operated by a food establishment are banned. Food establishments can still provide services via carryout, drive-thru, curbside, or delivery. Employers must permit employees who are able to work from their home. Businesses must enforce six foot social distancing, and require ill employees to exclude themselves from work until symptoms have cleared or they have been cleared to return to work by a doctor.

This ordinance is in effect immediately, and shall be renewed on a week by week basis.
