Over 150 Help Wilbur Osborne Celebrate 100th Birthday

Over 150 people helped Wilbur Osborne, lifetime Worth County resident and longtime judge, celebrate his 100th birthday Saturday. The meal was catered by the Allendale CBC. When someone asked him if he was still up for a race, he said he was.

Coleman Reunion Held at A&G Restaurant

The grandchildren of Lew and Lola Coleman, deceased, met on May 9th, 2016 at A&G Restaurant in Maryville for lunch. The honored guests were Bill and Carol Morrison of Loudon (TN), who were observing their 50th wedding anniversary and aunt Vivian Coleman.

Others joining in the celebration were Judy & Jim Gamel of Bedford, Alan and Elizabeth Coleman, Karl and Virginia Coleman, Corky DeMott, Kelly Morrison & Jordan Morrison all of Hopkins, Mary Coleman of Savannah, and Kay Coleman, Erma Lou and Glenn Owens, Jim and Linda Morrison, Leroy and Helen Morrison, and Kirby, Angela, and Jackson Morrison, all of Maryville, and the honored guest, Billy and Carol from Loudon (TN). It was a very special day for all.

J.W. Harding Family Hayride

J.W. and Clara Harding hosted their annual family hayride on Saturday evening, October 20th. All enjoyed a hayride, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and visiting around a big bonfire. There was a time for sharing and catching up with what is going on in each one's lives.

Larry, Linda Hibbs Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Larry and Linda Hibbs celebrated their 50th anniversary Saturday at Sheridan Grocery & Cafe, where over 75 friends and family came to help them celebrate. They were married in 1962 at the Sheridan Christian Church by long-time preacher Delbert Biehle. They said that the way to stay married for so long was to have a good sense of humor so that they could laugh through the tough times. They remembered always hanging out at the Skating Rink, which was in its heyday, crowded every Wednesday and Saturday nights. Following their marriage, they farmed for many years. Larry and Linda said that the biggest challenge for their marriage was making ends meet their first few years. Larry was very punctual, getting up at around 5:00 in the morning and then going back at 5 in the evening to milk the cows. They maintained a sense of curiosity throughout their marriage, regularly going back to school to learn new skills. Larry is now an EMT and a licensed pilot. Larry now is a truck driver and has his own rig; he has driven over 1 million miles. He quipped that he was just passing through on a trucking run across the country Saturday. They had two children, Robin and the late Todd Hibbs.

Cole, Brooke Fisher Get Married

Cole and Brooke (Florea) Fisher were married August 11th at 5 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Hopkins with a reception and dance following. Jim and Marlene Florea of Pickering announce the engagement of their daughter Brooke Florea to Cole Fisher, son of Kelly and the late Lora Fisher of Parnell. The bride is the daughter of Jim and Marlene Florea of Pickering and a 2007 graduate of North Nodaway and a 2010 graduate of AIB College of Business, receiving her Associates Degree in Accounting and Information Technology. She is employed as a Customer Support Specialist at Nodaway Valley Bank, Maryville. The groom is a 2009 graduate of North Nodaway. His is the son of Kelly and the late Lora Fisher of Parnell. He manages a cow/calf operation along with row crop with his father and grandfather at Fisher Farms, Gaynor.

Bertha Hawbeck Celebrates 104th Birthday

Bertha Hawbeck of Moses Lake, WA celebrated her 104th birthday Saturday. She was born and raised in Sheridan and is the grandmother of Gary Hawk and the great-grandmother of Mary Jo Riley of Sheridan. She has many more friends and family in the area as well.
She was born in 1908. Teddy Roosevelt was the President, Worth County had nearly 10,000 people, European leaders were beating the drums of war, the train was still rolling through Sheridan, and there was no electricity or Internet or cars.

Clara Harding Celebrates Birthday

Clara Harding celebrated her birthday on 11-11-11 with dinner at the home of her daughter, Becky Baker. Attending were Becky, Randy, and Barrett Baker; Robin, Scott, Kaitlyn, and Olivia Davidson; Brenda, Randy, Shayna, Jaysie, and Taylor Dougan; Colby Wiederholt, Reagan and Trenton Hartley; Mark, Laurie, Todd, and Kim Harding; Matthew Herzberg, Kevin Harding, and J.W. & Clara Harding. After dinner, several attended the semi-final game between Worth County and Stanberry.
