North Harrison handed Gallatin only its fourth loss of the year as Kira Roberton's double in the sixth inning broke up a close game and Shamrock first baseman Andi Nail turned two double plays in the Shamrocks' 6-2 win in the GRC crossover.
Andi Nail, only a freshman, has been competing for playing time at first base, and Thursday's game showed why. On one play, she snagged a line drive and stepped on first to complete the double play. On another, she caught a bunt in the air and was able to dive back and touch the bag with her glove to complete the double play.
The Shamrocks have needed the lower part of the order to come through in order to be effective, and Kira Robertson came through twice. Besides her double, she had another play earlier where she singled and stole second and third, allowing the Shamrocks to manufacture a run.
Erica Gerken pitched well; Gallatin got a home run off her, but little else. The fielders backed her up as the team only had one error. Jaci Davis had a double for the Shamrocks, while Jayliegh Robins and Ruby Heintz also hit well in the win.
