Last week, the US Postal Service ordered an emergency closure of the Sheridan Post Office, citing what they said was structural deterioration of the building. A few months before, the building adjacent to it had collapsed.
Mail for postal customers is being temporarily held at the Grant City Post Office for pickup. All customers must either rent a box at the Grant City or Parnell post offices or put up a mailbox of their own. Sheridan Rural Housing customers can go to the Grant City Post Office and get a box at the housing. Customers must fill out a change of address form.
Customers can still drop off mail at the blue drop box next to the Sheridan Post Office. All mail will be picked up at 2 pm.
