Two people were injured Sunday evening and one lifeflighted in a wreck one mile west of Parnell at around 5:15 pm. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2021 Polaris Ranger UTV driven by William Stiens (76) of Skidmore was northbound on Orion Road and a 2005 Chevy 2500 driven by Krista Staples (19) of Parnell was eastbound on 200th Street. The Patrol says the UTV failed to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection, and the Chevy struck the UTV at an angle. They both came to rest on their wheels in the roadway. Stiens was seriously injured and was lifeflighted to Mosaic in St. Joseph. A passenger, Harold Spire (62) of Maryville, received moderate injuries and was taken to Mosaic in Maryville. Staples was not injured.
