Courthouse News for June 2nd, 2021

On May 10th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested James Castillo (28) of Bedford on a Parole Violation Warrant.

On May 15th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department investigated the unattended death of Jeffrey Wade Collier (57) of Mount Ayr. No foul play was suspected.

On May 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Kenneth Fraser (51) of Mound (MN) in Harrison County on charges of DWI, No Insurance, and No Plates.

On May 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Cory Pickering (30) of Grant City in Harrison County on a City of St. Joseph Warrant for Failure to Appear (Traffic Violation).

On May 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jordan Williams (23) of St. Joseph in Nodaway County on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Nodaway County Warrant for Failure to Appear (Traffic Violation).

On May 26th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Edward Hartman (61) of Fontana (CA) in Nodaway County on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended, and Speeding. Charges were filed on May 29th by Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips. Bond was set at $10,000, cash or corporate surety.

On May 27th, Brandon Clayton, of Clearfield, was arrested in the 200 block of Van Buren Street by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding Taylor County warrant. Clayton was wanted for Domestic Abuse 3rd or subsequent offense. He is being held without the ability to bond pending an initial appearance before the Magistrate. 

On May 27th, John H Fraley, of Lenox, was arrested at the concession stand of the Lenox High School Sports Complex. Fraley was under the influence and yelling abusive epithets. Fraley was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He is being held at the Taylor County Jail on $600 bond. 

On May 27th, Lynette Huber, of Lenox, was arrested in the 200 block of north Spear Street in Lenox by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding Adams County warrant. Huber was taken to Adams County and held at their facility on $300 bond. 

On May 27th, the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office reported that people were misdialing the Business Services number, which oversees filings for all businesses in Missouri, and have been asked to pay for services using Walmart gift cards. Scammers will then ask for the numbers on the back so they can steal the money loaded on the cards. The Missouri Secretary of State’s office does not ask people to pay by gift card. The correct number is (866) 223-6535.

On May 28th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Joseph Simmons (29) of Ridgeway alleging Failure to Register as Sex Offender (Felony). Bond was set at $10,000, cash only.

On May 28th, a Worth woman reported that someone had stolen the flower insert from a vase full of flowers that she used to decorate her parents’ graves. 

On May 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested David Shedd (37) of Sharpsburg (MD) in Harrison County on charges of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle (Felony), Resisting Arrest (Felony), Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Felony), and No Valid License. He was charged the next day by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer. Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

On May 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Drew Lowery (27) of Ogden (IA) in Harrison County on a charge of Domestic Assault.

On May 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 10:42 pm about a missing male subject by the name of Daniel Ahrens of Adel (IA) at a rural farm pond near Ellston (IA), where he had gone fishing in the morning and had not come home. Upon arrival, a canoe was found upside down 15 feet from shore. Subsequently, Ahrens’ body was found 15 feet from shore in about eight feet of water.

On May 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Alejandro Rivera-Rodriguez (41) of San Antonio in Harrison County on charges of DWI, Speeding, and No Valid License.

On May 30th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Edward Baker (45) of Maryville alleging Possession of Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $10,000, cash or corporate surety.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
