Grant City to Install New Carpet at City Hall

The City of Grant City will install a new carpet at City Hall on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The old one has become a tripping hazard. This means that the License Office will be closed on the day before Thanksgiving as well as the day after. The City Hall office will also be closed that day; however, the drive-in will be open that day and people can still call City Hall.

The Nature Trail received a clean bill of health in a semi-final inspection as the project closes out. The city had signed an agreement with the school several years ago that had allowed them to build the trail behind the ball diamond. The school owns the ball diamond after it had been donated by the Grant City Legion.

Jeff Quick came to discuss a fence separating his pasture from the city lagoon, which is in need of repair. He will meet with Public Works Director Carl Staton to discuss repairs.

Mayor Debbie Roach said that between 1,000 and 2,500 bikers will be on the bike trail ride that will pass through Grant City on June 23rd next year as part of the "Bike Across Missouri" tour.

Economic Developer Elizabeth Martz reported that she had heard many positive comments on the Fall Festival. Over 100 meals were served by the Masonic Lodge and activity at the kids booth was nonstop. The Extension's baked goods booth sold well. Martz also reported that Sheridan is seeking money to tear down the old schoolhouse.

The city purchased three loads of cold mix for street repair. The council voted to declare a 300 John Deere mower tractor, a 706 Farmall, a 110 mower tractor, a car trailer, a pickup spreader box as surplus property. They will auction these items off online.
