Austin Wilson Adams, 96 died August 21,
2014. He was born October 28, l917 in Green Township, Worth County,
Missouri.
Austin served in the United States Army
during World War II as an airplane mechanic,
specializing in B24 bombers. He
married Mary Alice Graham from Stanberry, Missouri on November 23,
1946. They were married for 66 years.
Austin served Worth County Missouri 34
years as an elected official serving in the capacity of County Clerk
(1947-1950) and County Collector (1951-1981). He was also an active
member in a variety of community organizations during his lifetime.
Austin was preceded in death by his
wife Mary, parents Edson and Daisee (Long) Adams, brothers Doyle,
Blaine, Elbert and sisters Bernice (infant), and Bonnie Cassel.
He is survived by daughter Linda Drew
of Bethany, Missouri; son Lynn Adams and daughter in law Judy Adams
of Mesa, Arizona, four granddaughters, one grandson and ten great
grandchildren. Sister in law Faye Adams and brother/sister in law
Edward and Betty Pigg, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, August
29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home in Grant City,
preceded with a visitation at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Grant
City, Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Grant
City Baptist Church or the Harrison County Hospice.
