Kevin Stoll, Shayna Dougan are NEN Homecoming Royalty

Kevin Stoll was named Homecoming King and Shayna Dougan was named Queen at the Northeast Nodaway Homecoming celebration held Thursday night. They were named after the annual chili supper and pep rally. Wyatt Henggeler was named Prince and Alicia Smith Princess.

The Northeast Nodaway band performed pre-show music. Members are Dakota Auffert and Chet Spire (percussions), Brittany Burns and Katie DeLong (clarinets), Vanessa Riley, Trevor Edwards and Keltan Munns (trumpets), Andrew Freemyer (baritone), Stephanie Price (bass clarinet), and Colton Wilmes (saxophone). They were directed by Rhomda Beattie.

The first skit involved a black and gold shark (Kevin Stoll) sneaking up on an unsuspecting NEN fan sitting on the ladder. however, superhero Tyler Schmitz relived his football days and gave Kevin a perfect textbook tackle and carried the fan off to safety to save the day.

The Northeast Nodaway Dance Team put on a performance next. Members are Allyson Carter, Marie Coffelt, Tabitha Shipps, Shayna Dougan, Jenny Seipel, Brianna Riley, Kaysie Wiederholt, and Haley Howard.

The 8th graders put on a skit, in which Stephanie Price and Alicia Smith played the cookie monster and stole the cookies away from the boy.

The parade of floats was next, followed by the awarding of the spirit stick. The freshmen won the competition this year.

The cheerleaders led the crowd in some cheers next. Members are Katrina Freemyer, Erica Hovey, Marie Coffelt, Brianna Riley, Shelby Brandt, Allie Runde, Shelby Linville, Haley Howard, and Mikeala McCoy. They are coached by Katie McMillen.

The musical chairs game was next; Principal Linda Mattison showed some of her old basketball form as she won the musical chairs competition. The basketball players led the crowd in guessing who the Bluejay mascot was. Taryn Farnan and Kerrigan Adwell led a skit on perseverance in which the coaches competed against each other to see who could complete three tasks against interference by Aaron Patton, Kevin Stoll, and Jill Spire. The boys coaches, Chaim Jenkins and Kaleb Wardlow, won that competition.

The Northeast Nodaway Flag Team was next. Members are Katrina Freemyer, Erica Hovey, Shelby Brandt, and Haley Howard.

The sophomores put on the next skit, which involved a game of charades between the boys' and girls' coaches. That was won by the boys coaches, although girls coach Vance Proffitt would likely argue that it was because Wardlow would simply point out the players being depicted in the game. The teachers' skit was next, involving a top secret meeting by various superheroes.

Besides Stoll, king candidates were Brandon Auffert, Andrew Faustlin, and Korey Adwell. The other prince candidate was Dylan Mildfeldt. Besides Dougan, the other queen candidates were Kristan Judd, Bailey Judd, and Mikeala McCoy. The other princess candidate was Breanna Coulter.
