Two Injured in Carmack Junction Wreck

Two people were injured in a wreck at Carmack Junction Tuesday at around 2:06 p.m. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a 2001 International Truck Model 2545 driven by John Parmenter of Albany was southbound on 169 and a 2004 Harley Davidson driven by Mickey McCaray of St. Joe was eastbound on 136. The International failed to stop at the stop sign and continued through the intersection. The Harley struck the International on the passenger side. Parmenter was not wearing a safety device and was not injured in the accident. McCaray was wearing a safety device, received moderate injuries and was transported to the Northwest Medical Center by the Grand River Ambulance. A passenger of the motorcycle, Juarbe Mandalena of Independence, received serious injuries and was taken by Lifenet to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. The International received minor damage while the Harley was totaled.

The accident was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Gentry County Sheriff's Office, and the Albany Fire Department.
