Ron Canaday to Address Worth County Alumni

The annual reunion of the Grant City High School/Worth County R-I, R-III Alumni will be held at the Worth County R-III High School in Grant City on Sunday, June 26, 2011. The event will begin with a basket dinner at 12:30 pm followed by the program at 2:00. Drinks will be provided. All Alumni, spouses and friends are invited to come and enjoy this program. A free will offering will be taken during the afternoon to help provide two scholarships for graduates of the school. The speaker for the afternoon will be Ron Canaday, Class of 1961.

Ron, earned a Masters Degree from Park University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He served as Chief of the Platte City Police Department for six years and as a Detective in Parkville for eight more years. He retired as a Captain from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department after twenty nine years. Ron has had a wide variety of assignments and experiences. Among his assignments was as Crime Scene Investigator Commander. He directed the crime scenes of 500 to 600 homicides, including five police officers. Three books and one movie were made about cases he investigated. Ron taught Criminal Justice classes at Park University and after forty three years in law enforcement, retired to teach Criminal Justice classes at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph.

He is married to a classmate, Marilyn Burns of Worth, Missouri, his high school sweetheart. They are parents to three children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
