Obituary: Frances Motsinger 1913-2011

Frances Motsinger, long time resident of Worth County and Grant City, Missouri passed away June 18, 2011 at Orilla’s Way in Grant City at the age of 97 years.

Frances, daughter of Pleasant and Mamie (Scadden) Wiley, was born December 6, 1913 in Grant City, the eldest of 5 daughters. Frances graduated from the Grant City High School in 1932. She was married on June 3, 1933 to Gail V. Motsinger in Albany, Missouri. They had three children.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Gail and daughter Mary K. Motsinger Miller; sisters: Pauline Masters, Ella Mae Barker, Katherine Spicer and Helen Hall.

She is survived by sons: James P. and wife Bobbe of Houston, TX, Joseph G. and wife Sebyl of Grand Haven, MI.

Frances is also survived by five grandsons, Scott T. Motsinger and wife Beverly, Chad J. Motsinger and wife Kellee, Mathew T. Motsinger and wife Kelli, and Jacob A. Motsinger, Paul Miller and wife Kim; three granddaughters: Betty Gail Miller and husband Frank Goff, Sara Frances Miller Buschmann and husband Rick, Andrea M. Motsinger Rodgers and husband Joe; 13 great-grandchildren: Kirstin Huckstep, James P., Alex, Zach, Mitch,Cullen, Conner, and Kathryn Motsinger, Logan Rodgers, Katie Buschmann, Elena, Lydia and Liam Miller, and another great-granddaughter on the way; and great-great-granddaughter Summer Huckstep; 3 step grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Cameron and Leslie Cameron Thalhammer; 10 step great-grandchildren: Kriegan and Cameron Roldan, Carter, Nicholas, Dylan, Kaidyn and Gage Cameron, Amelia, Cameron and Andrew Thalhammer.

Frances was a member of the First Christian Church of Grant City, where she has been a trustee of the church. She was a member of P.E.O. for over 55 years and past president. She was a member of Eastern Star and also of several bridge clubs over the years. Frances was known as a great cook for her family and others at church, she also enjoyed gardening. Frances always had a kind word for others and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Services provided by Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, will be held at the First Christian Church in Grant City on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Dirk Buffington will officiate. Interment will be in the Fletchall Cemetery in Grant City. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions for the maintenance of the Fletchall Cemetery may be made to Fletchall Cemetery in care of Carolyn Hardy, 19672 140th Rd., Grant City, Missouri 64456.
