Obituary: Edith Marie Wolnik 1926-2011

Edith Marie Wolnik, 85, of Grant City passed away Friday, February 11th, 2011 at the Worth County Convalescent Center. She was born February 7th, 1926 in St. Louis. She was the daughter of Roy and Lula Bay. Edith married Joseph Jacob Wolnik on August 15, 1953 in Chicago. To this union, five children were born. Survivors include children Joe (Mary) Wolnik of Mission, KS, John (Robin) Wolnik of Eagle, CO, Mary (Joe) Ross of Grant City; Kathy Aguirre of Spencer, NC, and Eddie (Felix) Rodriguez of Grant City.

Edith had 4 grandchildren; Jessi (Craig) Sportsman of Barnard; Shannon (Brad) Long of Spencer, NC; Bryan Wolnik of Mission, KS; and Christian Rodriguez of Brownsville, TX.

Edith had 3 great-grandchildren; Rylie and Rowdy Sportsman of Barnard and Avia Long of Spencer, NC.

Edith was the eldest of 17 children. Being the oldest, she helped raise the children and gained motherly skills that she passed on to her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Edith lived with her family in Lonedell, MO until they moved to Grant City in 1983. She was a homemaker and raised her family.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 14th at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City with Interment in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Parnell. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
